A brand new section of the Connswater Community Greenway is now open to the public.  Marsh-Wiggle Way is a new one kilometre cycle and pedestrian link connecting Orangefield Park and Clarawood to the Braniel. Following a recent public campaign, Marsh-wiggle Way was named after the fictional frog like humanoid marsh-dwellers found in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair, written by east Belfast Author C.S Lewis.

Bridges Family Practice on Newtownards Road has undergone a major redevelopment to become a state of the art facility thanks to £1 million funding secured by Landmark East (now EastSide Property) from The Northern Ireland Executive’s Social Investment Fund. A vital community asset, Landmark East celebrated the completion of the building today and launched ‘Starlings’, a specially commissioned artwork for the building.

Local artist Deirdre Robb, from Creative Exchange Studio was commissioned by EastSide Partnership to develop a piece of art for the new Bridges Family Practice building exterior on the Newtownards Road.

The Connswater Community Greenway (CCG) team is recruiting a Communications and Administration Officer to support the development and delivery of the project.

This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in a communications role.

EastSide Learning was established in 2014 to promote partnership working between schools and the community in east Belfast and agree a strategic direction for education in the east of the city. Members of the EastSide Learning Partnership (ESLP) include school representatives, education officials, cross –party public representatives, the business sector and community partners; it is a sub- group of the EastSide Partnership.

The new Connswater Community Greenway section connecting Clarawood to Braniel opens on Friday 27th May 2016 from 1pm to 4pm.

Connswater Community Greenway is looking for fun, friendly and energetic people to carry out casual work as Greenway Engagement Leader and Greenway Environmental Leader to support the positive use of the Greenway. 

Both Engagement and Environmental Leader roles will include: 

  • Participating in a full training programme
  • Assisting at events and activities
  • Engaging with members of the public
