Project Dance comes to C.S. Lewis Square

Northern Ireland is getting ready to host Project Dance, a first of its kind creative learning weekend of everything dance. The event will take place at Ashfield Girls’ High School from 2nd – 4th  August during this year’s EastSide Arts Festival.  Project Dance will feature a range of dance styles for all abilities and all ages across 40 + workshops and seminars. Top dance industry professionals will be on hand to help encourage all participants to try a new skill as well as help them to progress within their particular area of interest.

Organised by Belfast-based dance company Ajendance and supported by EastSide Partnership,  Project Dance will welcome a range of top industry professionals across various dance styles including commercial, Irish, musical theatre, contemporary, street, highland, jazz and much more. Notable names from the dance industry include professional dance artist Tobias Ellehammer. Tobias is best known for his tribute video ‘The Jackson Trilogy,’ as well as working with world-renowned artists such as Kylie Minogue and Olly Murs. Other well-known names from the world of dance include Philip Joel, Neil O’Brien, Jemima Brown, Andreas Wickedmindz, Karen Baird and Renako McDonald.

Project Dance will also include JamzNI United Dance Organisation (UDO) World Championship Qualifiers for all street dancers on Friday 2nd August at C.S. Lewis Square. Dancers will have the chance to train on a one-to-one basis with some of the UDO choreographers, learn about mental health within the arts as well as take part in a range of lifestyle focussed seminars.

Looking forward to Project Dance in August, Clare Montgomery from event organizer Ajendance, said:
