Living Wage Awareness Event

Thank you to everyone who attended our Living Wage Awareness Event at East Belfast Network Centre on 22nd September.

It was great to hear from the Living Wage Foundation on the accreditation process and local Living Wage accredited employers from the community, private and public sector about the benefits, for employers and employees, of paying the real living wage.

For the past 20 years, Northern Ireland has consistently held the UK record for the devolved nation with the highest percentage of employees receiving below the real Living Wage. As the cost-of-living crisis worsens, our Scaffolding Project Committee, a group of 10 organisations working together to mitigate the impacts of poverty, is responding with a campaign to put more money in people’s pockets by increasing the number receiving the real Living Wage. The Living Wage Campaign for East Belfast is funded by The Urban Villages Initiative.
