HOME Project

In 2016/17 EastSide Arts will be working in association with Terra Nova Productions to develop The HOME project.  This programme will give 4 emerging artists the opportunity to be mentored with the aim of developing a new intercultural piece based on the theme of HOME in East Belfast. The project will also engage 4 local communities or families living in the east, both from indigenous and new communities, who will work alongside the artists.

This programme will include two masterclass training weekends for 16 emerging artists leading to a bespoke mentoring programme guiding 4 of the artists in the development of their piece. The development and mentoring process will assist the artists to create and perform a new piece of intercultural theatre lasting between 15 & 30 minutes, inspired by the stories, lives and experiences of the community group they are working with.

The project will end in March 2017 with a final showcase of the pieces the artists have created, open to an invited audience of friends and family of the community groups.  All emerging artists are welcome to apply, from both indigenous and new communities working in any performing art form (i.e drama, dance, music, poetry, performance art etc).

Important Dates:

The Artist Development Weekend will take place Friday 11th – Sunday 13th November

The mentoring programme will take place from November 2016 – March 2017 with a second Artist Development in February 2017 and a showcase in March 2017.
