EastSide Greenways- Living the Greenway Programme 2022

EastSide Greenways is hosting it’s annual Living the Greenway programme from 12th to 18th September, a week-long of fun environmental-themed events, this programme also marks the 5th anniversary of the completion of the Connswater Community Greenway. 

Here's what you can expect- 

Go EastSide Workshop- 13th September-9.30am- Join Professor John Barry in this Go EastSide Workshop where we will revisit the themes of our webinar series in an interactive way, considering how current issues and challenges play a part in discussions around active travel, community growing, energy and much more.

Led Ride on the Greenway- 13th September- 10am & 6.30pm- Why not enjoy a leisurely ride from C.S. Lewis Square through Orangefield Park and as far as the Knock Dual Carriageway, along the Connswater Community Greenway.

Charity Shop Hack (Furniture Upcycling Workshop)-13th September- 7pm- Participants will learn upcycling techniques to apply to individual projects. Content includes how to use primer and types of paint, as well as how to apply decoupage. 

Connswater Community Greenway Clean Up- 14th September- 6pm- Join our amazing Adopt a Spot groups for a special facilitated community clean up of Orangefield Park where you will get the chance to help out, get outdoors, get walking, pick up some litter and meet some new people.

Oats, Ropes and Whiskey Tour- 14th September- 6pm- We walk to ‘The Hollow’ and visit the oldest surviving bridge and mill in east Belfast. Formerly heavily polluted, this river is now a haven for birdlife, and we will explore it on this lovely greenway walk.

Bat Walk and Talk-15th September- 7.30pm- Join Woody and friends for this special Bat Walk & Talk in Orangefield Park.

Bird Walk with Dot Blakely- 17th September- 11am- Join local bird expert Dot Blakely, often featured on Radio Ulster’s Your Place & Mine, for a morning stroll around Victoria Park.
